> ## Agent Instructions
> Praesia is in closed beta. Cards work in the sandbox with test funds, and no real money moves. To use Praesia, you need an invite. To request an invite, open https://praesia.ai/contact.

# Troubleshoot the Praesia CLI and payments

> Find your error message and how to fix it.

Your agent handles most of these by itself. Use this page when it stops and shows you one.

## Installing the CLI with `npm install`

> [accordion] EACCES
>
> Run the same command with `sudo` in front.

> [accordion] 403 Forbidden
>
> Your invite isn't valid: it's mistyped, expired or revoked. Ask the person who sent it for a new one.

> [accordion] 429 Too Many Requests
>
> Wait one minute, then install again.

> [accordion] 503 Service Unavailable
>
> The server has no CLI to give. Contact the person who sent your invite.

## Signing in with `praesia request`

> [accordion] invite\_required
>
> The invite code is missing, mistyped, expired or revoked. Check it against the code in your skill text, then ask your agent to try again.

> [accordion] rate\_limited
>
> Praesia received too many requests from this network address. Wait one minute, then ask your agent to try again.

> [accordion] This profile already has a badge
>
> The message names the agent that holds this profile and its organization.
>
> * If it's the agent you're setting up, ask your agent to read its status.
> * For a new agent, ask your agent to use another profile name.

> [accordion] This sign-in link has ended
>
> The sign-in page shows this message. Ask your agent for a new link.

## Running a tool with `praesia call`

> [accordion] This agent is not enrolled yet
>
> You haven't approved this agent yet. Open the sign-in link that your agent gives you and approve it.

> [accordion] No agent of this machine has this profile name
>
> The answer lists the agents on this machine. Tell your agent which one acts.

> [accordion] This agent must be set up again on this machine
>
> Ask your agent to set up again with a new profile name.

> [accordion] Enroll the agent again with another --profile
>
> Ask your agent to set up again with a new profile name.

> [accordion] The clock of this machine is off
>
> Set your machine's clock, then ask your agent to try again.

> [accordion] The Praesia CLI of this machine needs a check
>
> Give your computer account write access to the Praesia home, then run `praesia doctor --profile PROFILE_NAME`. Then ask your agent to try again.

## Paying with `pay`

> [accordion] result: unresolved
>
> The payment hasn't failed. Your agent checks it with `get_status` under the same key. Don't ask it to pay again.

> [accordion] Run praesia operations
>
> Your agent runs this command to list the payments whose outcome isn't known yet:
>
> ```bash theme={"theme":"material-theme-darker"}
> praesia operations --profile PROFILE_NAME
> ```

> [accordion] This machine keeps no record of payments
>
> The CLI can't write to its Praesia home. Your agent can still pay, and it checks each payment with `get_status`. To keep the record, give your computer account write access to the Praesia home.

> [accordion] An operation journal file cannot be read
>
> Delete the file that the answer names, then ask your agent to try again.

## Updating the CLI

> [accordion] Version X of the Praesia CLI is available
>
> Your agent keeps working. Tell it whether to update. If you agree, it updates the CLI and the skill, then asks you to restart your harness. If you refuse, it doesn't ask again in this conversation.

> [accordion] Praesia needs a newer version of the Praesia CLI
>
> Praesia refuses calls from this version. Ask your agent to update, then restart your harness. If a payment was in progress, your agent reads its outcome before the restart.

## Starting the server with `praesia serve`

Your harness runs this command. It shows these messages.

> [accordion] praesia serve takes no --profile option
>
> The harness entry is out of date. Add the server again. [Manual install](https://docs.praesia.ai/manual-install.md) shows how.

> [accordion] The harness cannot start the server
>
> This happens after you remove a Node.js version. Install the CLI on the version you keep, then [add the server](https://docs.praesia.ai/manual-install.md) to your harness again.

## Checking the setup with `praesia doctor`

> [accordion] Doctor failed
>
> The line names the reason. Fix it before you connect your harness.
