# Set up payments for your AI agent

> Paste one line into your agent. It sets up Praesia, and you approve the agent and its first mandate.

By the end of this page, your agent has an approved mandate, and it tells you when it can pay. Each approved purchase then gets a single-use virtual card.

## What you need

* An invite from Praesia, which holds your skill link. [Request an invite](https://praesia.ai/contact).
* A terminal harness, such as Claude Code, OpenCode or Codex CLI, or a hosted assistant, such as Dot or Grok Bot.
* For a terminal harness, macOS or Linux. WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux) is experimental for now.
* For a terminal harness, Node.js 22.18.0 or later. Run `node --version` to check.

## Set up Praesia

**1. Give your agent the skill link**

Open a new conversation, and send this message with your skill link:

**2. Approve the commands**

Some harnesses may ask you to approve some commands. If yours refuses one, your agent gives you the command to run in a terminal. If the setup still can't finish, follow [Manual install](https://docs.praesia.ai/manual-install.md).

**3. Approve your agent**

Your agent gives you a sign-in link. Open it, create your account or sign in with your passkey, and approve the agent.

**4. Approve a mandate**

Your agent interviews you about the rules you want, then gives you an approval link. Open it and approve with your passkey.

**5. Ask for a purchase**

In the sandbox, your agent pays our demo merchant, a hotel site in Ibiza. [Test in the sandbox](https://docs.praesia.ai/sandbox.md) gives a mandate and purchases that work.
